Character education is a learning process that enables students and adults in our community to understand, care about, and demonstrate our Four Pillars of integrity, perseverance, courage, and respect for self and others.
A beloved tradition at Charlotte Prep is the BUDEE (Be Understanding, Dedicated, Empathetic, and Engaged) mentorship program, which matches TK students from the Early School with 3rd graders and each of the other Lower School students with a Middle School buddy who serves as a role model to the youngster. Students - older and younger - experience leadership in action as they meet for community service, character education, and teamwork exercises.
Middle School students take their BUDEE responsibilities seriously and welcome the chance to work with their younger peers.
Students of every age benefit from varied opportunities to serve others while also learning leadership skills and social responsibility. We encourage students to expand their social perspective as they learn about the needs of both our local and global communities and the impact that we can have no matter one's age or abilities.
As a Charlotte Prep student, I promise to respect my school community by being fair, responsible, and honest in everything I do. My work will be my own.
