2016-2017 Highlights
  • Charlotte Prep welcomed Michelle Charles ’13 as our keynote speaker for the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2017. Michelle recently graduated from Charlotte Latin School where she 8th-grade the prestigious Headmaster’s Award. During her high school years, Michelle was inducted into the Cum Laude Society, Headmaster’s List for Academic Excellence, Charlotte Latin Service Society, and the National Spanish Honor Society. She received the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award for Commitment to Social Justice for her leadership in the Mosaic diversity club and the Black Student Alliance, which she co-founded.
  • Last fall, we welcomed students from the Class of 2016 back for our alumni panel to chat with the 8th-grade class about what to expect in high school.  Our panel of high school freshmen always offers a great perspective, and this is a valuable component of the high school placement process at Charlotte Prep.
  • Families of the Class of 2017 generously presented a beautiful bronze tiger sculpture that now adorns the Charlotte Prep main entrance to welcome our families and guests as they arrive on campus. The sculpture represents strength and determination and serves as a prominent reminder of our four pillars of Respect, Perseverance, Integrity, and Courage.

alumni quotes

Charlotte Prep is a wonderful place my family and I will always carry close to our hearts. Our two sons have solid educational as well as personal foundations because of their time at Prep. I am a huge supporter of the K-8 model because children are able to be themselves and are not "lost" in the classroom. We just went back for the alumni basketball game, and it was like going home - priceless! Seeing familiar teachers and staff was heartwarming and felt like a homecoming. Plain and simple, we love Charlotte Prep!

Thanks Charlotte Prep for instilling the love of learning in my son!

~ Elisabeth Miller Farrow, Alumni Parent

Charlotte Prep gave me the chance to grow and succeed not only in academics but also sports, fine arts, and as a person. I left Charlotte Prep a confident young woman well prepared for high school. I look forward to sharing my experiences with students who will soon take this next step in life.

~ Michelle Charles '13

Throughout my 11 years at Charlotte Preparatory School, I have learned a tremendous amount, not only from my classes, but also from the lessons, relationships, and morals I have acquired. The school community always inspires scholarly habits and leadership. The four pillars—Integrity, Perseverance, Courage, and Respect—are what make up a Charlotte Prep student.

~ Maria S. '17

I have grown so much through my 11 years here. I am more outgoing and confident and more willing to take on challenges. I am ready for whatever comes in the future, and I can do anything. I love how Charlotte Prep is such a small school where I can have the experience of doing the sports that I want to and not being afraid to try them.

~ Katie H. '17

I recognize how the Four Pillars of Charlotte Prep have influenced my character. Respect is the one that means the most and has had the greatest influence on my journey through school. Showing respect and kindness is fundamental in a diverse environment and not only does it assist in maintaining peaceful and happy surroundings, it has helped me grow as a person. I am ready for high school. Thank you, Charlotte Prep.

As I reflect on my years at Prep, I realize that I would never go back in time to take a different path. I am proud of the person I’ve become at this school. Through the ups and downs I have always had people there to support me, and I am extremely grateful for that. I will never forget this small, yet incredibly impactful school.
