Required Fees and Optional Services

Application Fee: A $90 non-refundable fee is required at the beginning of the admissions process.

Assessment Fee: Applications for Kindergarten through Eighth Grade include an Academic Skills Assessment. Depending on the grade level, these assessments are administered through a partnership with outside professionals. A separate fee ($175-$200) is payable directly to the psychologists or testing professionals.

Tuition Down Payment: Upon acceptance to Charlotte Preparatory School, a non-refundable tuition down payment, accompanied by a signed contract, secures an academic placement for an eligible student. This deposit is then credited to the overall tuition.

New Family Commitment Fee: Over the years, many families have built our school through their investment of time and resources. When you join the Charlotte Preparatory School, you are beginning your investment into this very special education community. The New Family Commitment Fee is an expression of your commitment to educating your child at Charlotte Prep through the Eighth grade. We require that new families submit this one-time payment of $1000 upon signing their first tuition contract.

Lunch Program: Charlotte Prep has a commercial kitchen and dining room to serve a healthy, hot lunch. FLIK Food Service provides lunch each day. A variety of lunch plans are available.

After School Care: Charlotte Prep offers an enriching program for our students after their academic days ends. Families may participate on an annual or drop-in basis. Fees are based on the use of this service.

Financial Aid

Tuition Assistance Philosophy

Charlotte Preparatory School’s mission is supported by the belief that everyone in the school community benefits from the opportunity to interact with people who have diverse beliefs and backgrounds. Tuition assistance is one of the tools for developing and maintaining that cultural environment.

Charlotte Preparatory School supports two goals:

  1. To provide mission-appropriate students access to a high-quality education, that for financial reasons, might not be available to them.
  2. To ensure that we maintain a well-qualified student body that reflects the socioeconomic diversity of the greater Charlotte community.

Scholarship Programs

Charlotte Preparatory School offers kindergarten through eighth grade students of high caliber, intellectual aptitude, talent and strong character the opportunity to grow and flourish through three scholarship programs.

  • Cameron Scholarship Fund
  • Latino Scholarship Fund
  • Family Scholarship Fund

These programs distribute scholarships on the basis of merit coupled with demonstrated need.

The Cameron and Latino Scholarship funds are given from the Charlotte Preparatory School annual budget. The Family Scholarship Fund is made possible by the gifts of alumni, parents and friends of the school.

To be eligible for the scholarships, nominees must be enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grade, and must demonstrate a record of academic excellence as measured by one of several testing standards recognized by Charlotte Preparatory School.

Students must demonstrate leadership potential through participation in athletics, the arts, community service, church or other such activities, and must demonstrate evidence of strong character through adult recommendations and personal interviews. Awards may range from partial to full annual scholarships.

Financial need should not discourage a family from applying to Charlotte Preparatory School. Tuition assistance and payment plans are available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who may apply for financial assistance? Rising kindergarten through rising eighth grade students are eligible. Families must apply annually for consideration. The school works closely with families through this process in an effort to make a Charlotte Preparatory education affordable.

How is financial assistance determined? Financial assistance is determined through analysis of a family’s financial resources, including income and assets. To determine fair and equitable assistance awards, Charlotte Preparatory subscribes to the principles and needs analysis system of the School and Student Service for Financial Aid.

Families submit their private financial records directly to School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), where the assessment takes place.
