Service Learning

At Charlotte Preparatory School, we believe that community service is an integral part of growing tomorrow's leaders.

Students of every age benefit from varied opportunities to serve others while also learning leadership skills and social responsibility. We encourage students to expand their social perspective as they learn about the needs in both our local and global communities and the impact that we can have no matter one's age or abilities.

Some projects encourage school-wide participation, while others are specific to a division or grade level. The Middle School advisory curriculum includes service learning components for 5th - 8th Grade.

Community Service goals include:

  • Expanding an awareness of the needs of others both within the local Charlotte community and around the world

  • Nurture compassion and empathy for others

  • Create situations in which students can begin to understand how their actions impact the lives of others

  • Develop a life-long commitment of service to society

The Charlotte Prep community has:

  • Donated more than 2 tons of food to Loaves and Fishes

  • Fulfilled the holiday wishes of more than 100 children

  • Raised funds for Race for the Cure

  • Cleaned James Boyce Park, a public park near Charlotte Prep

  • Organized several drives for both American and Latin American orphans

  • Gave Charlotte homeless mothers a beautiful Mother's Day party

  • Collected and donated more than 200 pounds of clothing and household items to local crisis centers.

  • Decorated and shared Thanksgiving cards for a local nursing facility.
